I bumped into Harry Marra this afternoon at Hayward Field, and he was beaming afterAshton Eaton's performance Wednesday at the Diamond League's Bislett Games in Oslo.

Marra, of course, is Eaton's coach, and helped guide the former University of Oregon star to the world decathlon record and the 2012 Olympic gold medal.

Eaton won the Bislett Games' 400-meter hurdles in 49.16 seconds. Former NCAA champion Johnny Dutch was second in 49.77.

Eaton is taking a break from the decathlon this year, and running the hurdles instead. He never had run the 400 hurdles before this season.

He is believed to be the first decathlete to win an open event in a Diamond League meet.
