Mondo jumps to new Pole vault record

Armand ‘Mondo’ Duplantis already has the indoor pole vault and overall record of 6.18m / 20'-2-3/4" and now has broken Sergay Bubka's 26 year old outdoor WR of 6.14m 20'-1/4"

Mondo's  6.15m 20"-2" jump follows only the February jumps he had this year indoor for world records of 6.17m and 6.18m on the World Indoor Tour. The l6.18 emains the official world record* across both indoor and outdoors

Mondos paerents/coaches where not at this meet so former world record-holder Renaud Lavillenie acted as his ‘replacement coach"

Duplantis thought he should move his run-up after the first miss  but Lavillenie, a supreme technician, advised that he just needed to put a little more force into the pole at the moment he planted it.
